HELLO World

I know its been a minute since a post..just been REALY busy..but this post is a special one to thank all those that support me on my quest to take Gospel and Music to the world...its not and easy task and there are a lot of road bumps on the way..but there are times when the work is very rewarding. But what is more important are those that stand by my side and in the gap for me as I go. Hamilton Park UMC in Dallas are one of my greatest supporters. My choir and music team really have kicked up and kicked in to make sure things ran smoothly while I have been away. I can not thank them enough from the bottom of my heart for not holding me back but pushing me forward. There prayers and emails and words of encouragement have helped me through...so i say to them THANK YOU...so many other people such as Nina, Andrea, Kevin Shana and the entire Jazz at Lincoln Center Rhythm Road Staff, Pastor Booker and the staff at HPUMC..my singers Tracy, Meaghan and Thelma and of course my awesome awesome family who are always there for me...i cant thnk you guys enough for helping me reach my dreams and beyond..now on to the next journey!

Hey Guys

Well well well...we just finished our last concert in Romania. Romania has been good. We started off in Bucharest doing some workshops with an afternoon arts school program. The kids were amazingly talented...all i can say is wow...I wish i could post the vid of us teaching them gospel songs. We visited Constansa too and worked with kids there and they put on a program for us...in our honor dancing and singing and dedicated and arrangement of God bless America and the Star Spangled Banner to us. WOW...then the Palace Theater for Youth did a special tribute to me since I live in Texas...they came out in cowboy hats and boots...There is so much history in this country and for a people who just 20 years ago were under Communist rule, they have builded a great democracy. There is still some hesitation in certain areas where they are concerned but music definitely awakens them. Tonite was a concert in an outside venue (pics to come) behind a giant cello and a sparkling pond. We finished to a standing ovation after singing almost an hour to a crowd that was packed. When we left the stage the blocked us in thanking us and wanting pics and autographs. They are a special people...! So im suppose to be packing which is one of the things i ABSOLUTELY HATE TO DO...can someone come and do it for me??..wheres my NINA!!!!...4:30am lobby call...ugh...and I HATE WAKING UP EARLY..so i wont go to bed...well until the nxt time fam!...

the Long version

Ok..so..i finally have a little more time to write about our adventures here in the great beyond, so where should i start. Well first, Poland is a great country and we arrived right in the middle of their elections of a new president, so its ALOT going on. I was a little nervous about the reception we might get..because..well...the people looked a little 'reserved'. The first concert was outside...and it was standing room only..people crowded in the beautiful outdoor venue..but no one was smiling at first....HUMMM..what is a brutha suppose to do?? Then the MC took forever introducing us in Polish language and when I peaked out, folks were falling asleep...ok im nervous at this point...but a vaulable lesson was learned, whn you have a formula that works, stick to it! and it will work all the time!...and thats exactly what happened. By the time we got finished the people would not stop clapping and called us out for an encore. Even the vice ambassador was up in arms...and by the way we had him singing and dancing. Next we performed at the Ambassadors residence for their 4th of July celebration. Great attendance by all the dignitaries and the important people (smile)..again, im thinkin..this is going to be a tough crowd..everyone had on suits and long dresses, high heels and a lot of makeup...alot of camera folk taking pics of the important folk and all of that!!!...but again, we were blessed to reach the hearts of the people and  gave an impromptu dance lesson...some kind of way we worked the electric slide into one of the songs and as they say in Hollywood, THATS ALL SHE WROTE...it was ON!!! Everyone wanted pictures and autographs and to have long lonnnnng conversations..lol..but we appreciated every moment!!..One guy said he had been coming to that event for 20 years and it was always boring...this had been the best ONE !! We left there and went to a small town called Kielce...had a great concert and then on Krakow for another 4th of July celebratory concert at the cultural center. Its amazing to me how much people really appreciate and love gospel music. So now im tired...lol..but we still have to travel onto Romania tomorrow..whewww...i need a long nap...stay tuned!

In Beirut

Sorry for the delay in posting..internet access has not been readily available and pictures are coming soon!..We just met the US Ambassador to Lebanon. What a great woman who is doing some awesome work here in Lebanon and her great staff. I really like Beirut..its not AT ALL what i thought it would be. It reminds me of a mini New York missed with some Chi-town and of course I bring the STL/DFW flavor to it. We have done at least 6 interviews/talk shows/radio formats...its been very very interesting....everyone is really being blessed by our music. The people are great and want us to stay longer and I WANT TO STAY..lol..the Med sea is some of God's best handiwork...stay tuned peeps..and to all my new friends in Cyprus and Lebanon that are checking us out..hit me up..lets stay connected!

Fathers Day in Cyprus

Well first let me say..to anyone that might pass along this way..happy fathers day....life is Cyprus has been nice such far. I found out yesterday that it doesnt rain here from May till November...WOWSERS!!!...The people are REALLY being receptive to our music. The only regret we hear is that we didnt have enough time with them! Sunday was a concert on the Turkish side of the island of Cyprus. It was interesting to drive approximately 30 mn and there b such drastic changes..especially with the language that is spoken. It will be equivalent to driving from Dallas TX to Plano TX and having a different alphabet and verbage. However music once again brought us together with the natives and by the end of the concert they were clapping and trying to sing along...what a great feeling! well off to breakfast...stay tuned!

Our First Concert

So today we have our first encounter with Cyprus...and IT WAS HOT..but beautiful. The people are great. They want to learn and they want to share. We were at Highgate school yesterday morning and OH what a great experience. It was their last day of class and boy were they ready to GET OUT OF THERE....i think the highlight for them was when I brought some of the students on stage to sing with us. From there we did an interview with the news station and had jam session/collab with some local jazz musicians. We went in with open minds and we really had a great time. We started off just grooving and making music amongst us and then we got down to rehearsing. They performed with us last night at the American Embassy in Cyprus. The Ambassador I must say is a cool guy. The guest and dignitaries were very pleased and could not stop complimenting us. They were singing and dancing and didnt want to leave. AND the food was great!...such a wonderful day and wonderful experience had...thank you Jazz at Lincoln and US States Dept for Rhythm Road!
